Monteriggioni Castle is a typical walled village, built by the Republic of Siena around 1200 to defend its territory from the continuous attacks of the Florentines armies. The castle still maintains 11 of the 15 towers it had once and perfectly preserved the elliptical walls. Inside the castle there are some habitations, cafes, restaurants and typical products shops. In the moment a visitor crosses the castle gate he breathes an atmosphere from a long time gone, which mixed with a finely restored apartment endowed with all the modern facilities make of this place the ideal destination for your holidays.

During summer time, either inside or outside the castle walls, many folkloristic events take place, the most renowned of which is the Medieval costumed commemoration with its impressive sword fighting. All around the castle on the sweet and green hills there are numerous paths ideal for walking, cycling and even for riding.
